Pride – Love for All
Today is Pride day in London, the day of the parade.
Pride is a day of love and acceptance. A day of unity. Pride was born out of the need to create an equal world where everyone can love each other without fear of discrimination or persecution. It’s a day to make others realise that love conquers all and that shouldn’t be a target of hate.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, asexual, queer, questioning, etc., everyone should have the right to love and be loved equally, the right to show the world that happiness is what matters. Everyone should be able to love their significant other and hold their hand in public without fear of being yelled at, or beat up.
If you’re celebrating Pride today, whether publicly or in the comfort of your own home, remember that today is a day of love. Don’t let anyone else’s negative words tear down your world and respond with love.
Today is another day to make a difference and make sure that discrimination, no matter towards what or whom, should not be accepted. Everyone should live feeling safe.
PS: I’ll leave here one of my favourite quotes for Pride: “Gay Pride was not born of a need to celebrate being gay, but our right to exist without persecution. So instead of wondering why there isn’t a straight pride movement, be thankful you don’t need one.”
