Being Proud

You should be proud of who you are. But not everyone is told that they should be proud of who they are.

Some people are continuously told that they are awful human beings, that they do not deserve a place in this world. Some people are continuously punished for being in love and go through life afraid of truly loving someone. Some people don’t even love themselves because they’ve been told for so long that who they are is wrong.

Some people are afraid of touching someone else’s hand in public. They are not able to be proud, because many elements of daily society tell them not to be.

That’s why days dedicated to celebrate you being able to say that you’re in the LGBTQ+ community is important, to at least take one day of the year where you can truly say you’re proud of who you are without feeling afraid for your life.

Happy London Pride ❤
